Friendship Cards Training Course for Educators and Counsellors

The Friendship Cards (FC) were developed by the Relationships are Forever Foundation (RAFF) together with the EO PSCD, counsellors, educators, and artists. The FC tool is designed to create a context where children and adolescents feel safe to express their emotions, understand those of others and thus respond appropriately to different situations in different environments and to deal with conflicts in a constructive way.

SWISH – Wheelchair Basketball & Frame Football for Secondary School Students

Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and the Maltese Olympic Committee, in collaboration with the Physical Education Department within the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes and Frame Football Malta, are offering Inclusive Sports Training sessions called Swish for Years 9, 10 & 11. Qualified coaches from the Malta Olympic Committee and Frame Football Malta will run a practice session through which students will be given the opportunity to experience a different dimension of sport. After each practice session, students will also benefit from a life skills session focusing on inclusion delivered by a youth worker from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ. All necessary equipment will be available to each school before the practice sessions.

Schools are to appoint a contact person (details to be included in the booking form). Aġenzija Żgħażagħ will communicate with the indicated person to make the necessary arrangements. Sessions will be delivered between Tuesday and Friday and are 80 minutes long (2 consecutive lessons). Tuesdays and Thursdays will be dedicated to wheelchair basketball, while Wednesdays and Fridays for frame football. Schools can also avail of multiple sessions, for different groups of students, on the same day or different sessions on different days. Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis, and bookings are to be made through the following link.

My Choice – Sessions for Secondary Students with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ

The PSCD department within the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes is once again collaborating with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ to offer sessions on different themes to secondary school students. The sessions held are directly related to the PSCD learning outcomes syllabus. The ‘My choice’ programme focuses on the following themes: Year 9: How to deal with stress – Year 10: My Interests and Hobbies – Year 11: My opinion, my vote. In the information sheet attached HERE, there is more information about the dates available.

Those schools which are interested in one or more of these sessions are to appoint a contact person (details to be included in the application) so that Aġenzija Żgħażagħ communicates with the indicated person directly, to make the necessary arrangements. School Transition Programmes for Primary, Middle, Secondary and Post-Secondary Education offered by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ

As students transition from primary school to middle school, from middle school to secondary school and from secondary school to post-secondary school they are often faced with social, emotional and physiological changes that can impact on their wellbeing and learning. Aġenzija Żgħażagħ is offering three programmes that can help facilitate a smoother transition from one school to another. These programmes were designed specifically to be fun and interactive while catering for the needs of these students and to provide the necessary life skills through which students can maintain their wellbeing and learning. These programmes are being offered both online and face to face.

IMPATT – Encouraging young people to participate in local and national decision making

The Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes in partnership with the Maltese National Commission for UNESCO and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ invites Middle Schools to participate in a new ESD initiative, named IMPATT. This initiative aims to encourage young people in Years 7 and 8 to actively participate in local and national democratic decision-making. During this scholastic year, IMPATT will, hence, provide an opportunity to Middle school students to research historical and cultural heritage pertaining to several Maltese localities, while analysing how the course of time impacted their respective social, environmental, economic and cultural dimensions. This initiative will also require participating students to draft brief proposals encouraging Local Councils to ensure further sustainable development aligned to Malta’s Sustainable Development Vision 2050. In this context, schools are invited to participate in this initiative by nominating a team of between 5 and 8 students and a link educator. IMPATT initiative will unfold as per schedule below:

Active Citizenship – Webinars for Year 8 to Year 11


The Social Studies department within the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes is once again collaborating with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ to offer a series if webinars to Middle and Secondary School students. This year’s running theme is ‘Active Citizenship’ and the subjects chosen are directly related to the Social Studies
syllabus:

Year 10: Nikkontribwixxi I.S.S.A
Year 11: Nikkontribwixxi I.S.S.A

These sessions will be streamed live to students via MS Teams. The Social Studies teacher is to facilitate the streaming session in his or her classroom respectively.
