Educational Outing for Middle and Secondary School Students

Heritage Malta is offering an educational outing in the form of a walk in nature and history for students in middle and secondary schools. This programme starts at Għar Dalam by visiting Ġnien Dinja Waħda. From there, students walk to St George’s Bay and then to Wied Żembaq. En route, students will have the opportunity to explore the natural and historical environment around Għar Dalam and Wied Żembaq.

Dates: 11, 12 and 28 April 2022
Time: Between 09:30 and 12:30

Covid-19 Guidelines

From Monday 17th January 2022, visitors to Heritage Malta sites and museums have to be in possession of a valid vaccine certificate, except children under 12 years. Visitors who fail to present a valid vaccine certificate can still visit Heritage Malta sites and museums if they provide one of the following:
• Negative result of a RT-PCR test or Antigen done not more than 72 hours before;
• Positive result of a RT-PCR test done not more than 6 months before that certifies recovery from COVID-19;
• A vaccine card issued by the health authorities;
• A health certificate of exception from the COVID-19 vaccine.
The teachers concerned will be informed by email in case there are changes in these guidelines.

Heritige Malta ser tkun qed torganizza serje ta’taħdidiet onlajn għall-iskejjel. Dawn it-taħditiet isiru minn rappreżentanti/għalliema li jaħdmu ma’ Heritage Malta via Microsoft Teams. It-taħdita iddum bejn tlett kwarti sa siegħa.

SKEDA

Vaccine Certificate needed to access Heritage Malta Sites

Heritage Malta would like to inform schools that as from Monday 17th January 2022 visitors to Heritage Malta Sites and Museums will be required to present a valid vaccine certificate. Visitors who do not have a valid vaccine certificate can enter Heritage Malta sites and museums if they provide either of the below:

• Negative RT-PCR or antigen test result not exceeding 72 hours.
• Positive RT-PCR test result not older than 6 months certifying recovery from Covid.
• Vaccination cards issued by health authorities.
• Visitors showing a health certificate stating that visitor cannot be vaccinated due to a health condition.

Students under the age of 12 years are exempt from the above.

Ġnien Dinja Waħda at Għar Dalam

Heritage Malta would like to invite students from Year 6 to participate in its new thematic programme: Ġnien Dinja Waħda at Għar Dalam. The activity is divided in five 30-minute-long activities that students will follow on a rotation basis:

Station 1: Ġnien Dinja Waħda – Pond Dipping, Għar Dalam curator will show students how to pond dip. Students will then be invited to help identify the creatures and discuss habitats around and in the pond.
Station 2: Għar Dalam Cave Tour – Tour will focus only on the cave as a natural habitat.
Station 3: Observing Nature – The activity will focus on the natural aspect of Għar Dalam with activities aimed at helping the students to connect with the environment around them through observations. A short activity sheet will be used to take note of these observations.
Station 4: Bark Rubbing Activity – An art teacher will show students how to do bark rubbing, students will then be invited to rub on different trees with the aim of creating different patterns. So as to follow Covid19 regulations students are asked to bring their own crayons and paper.
Station 5 (final activity to be carried out prior to leaving): Seed Sowing Activity – Students will be given seeds, pot and soil and given instructions on how to plant them. The pots will subsequently be collected by Heritage Malta staff in May and the trees and other wild plants planted at Għar Dalam and other areas.

Art Contest for Students – Heritage Malta

Staying at home can actually be fun! Heritage Malta is calling out to all kids aged up to 16 to participate in the art contest – BE THE ARTIST. Each two weeks, Heritage Malta will be announcing a new theme for which kids will be invited to create their work of art and then to upload an image of it on Heritage Malta’s Facebook event page. The best 10 submissions of each theme will be displayed in Heritage Malta’s portal www.heritagemalta.org  and later on this year, they will also be exhibited at MUŻA, Malta’s national-community art museum.
