As students transition from primary school to middle school, from middle school to secondary school and from secondary school to post-secondary school they are often faced with social, emotional and physiological changes that can impact on their wellbeing and learning. Aġenzija Żgħażagħ is offering three programmes that can help facilitate a smoother transition from one school to another. These programmes were designed specifically to be fun and interactive while catering for the needs of these students and to provide the necessary life skills through which students can maintain their wellbeing and learning. These programmes are being offered both online and face to face.
My Next School Adventure targets students who have just finished Year 6 and will be starting Year 7 next September. The programme consists of 8 sessions of 1.5 hours each, aimed to give space to students to equip themselves with life skills that are considered important for a successful transition to the 2 years of middle school. The sessions will provide an opportunity for students to explore their personal skills, look at effective ways to express their views in class, discover their learning styles, work with fellow students effectively, learn to be active students, deal with conflict and get support from school and how to manage time both at school and home. We will be visiting these themes through fun and interactive activities and at the end of the programme students will be given a certificate of participation. Multiple sessions at different times are available. The number of students in each group will be kept to a minimum to ensure individual attention.
The Secondary School Survival Kit targets students who have just finished Year 8 and will be starting Year 9 next September. The programme consists of 8 sessions of 1.5 hours each, aimed to give space to students to equip themselves with life skills that are considered important for a successful transition to the last 3 years of secondary school. The sessions will tackle the following themes: Thinking about the future, Goal setting, Time Management, Strengths and Weaknesses, Friendship, Wellbeing Online and Offline. We will be visiting these themes through a playlist of songs while discussing and doing activities together. Students will be given a certificate of participation and a survival kit at the end of the course.
Multiple sessions at different times are available. The number of students in each group will be kept to a minimum to ensure individual attention.
Make Head targets students who have just finished Year 11 and will be starting Post secondary Education next September. The programme consists of 8 sessions of 1.5 hours each, aimed to give space to students to equip themselves with life skills that are considered important for a successful transition to Post-Secondary Education. The sessions will tackle various themes such as personal wellbeing, responsibility, initiative, coping skills and will also focus on school services and facilities, activism, community life and life on campus. Most importantly Make Head will create the space and the opportunity where young people can discuss and bring up issues that they think they are important for them to navigate smoothly from secondary to post-secondary schools.
