The eTwinning Tree – An initiative between Malta and Slovenia

To celebrate eTwinning’s 15th anniversary and to implement this year’s Annual theme: Climate Change, eTwinning Malta is participating in an initiative between Malta and Slovenia. eTwinning Malta shall be sponsoring 15 schools from kindergarten up to post-secondary for a tree-planting activity in their school between the 1 st and 31st March 2020 – marking the 15th anniversary of eTwinning. Similar tree-planting activities shall be taking place in Slovenia.

Road Safety Awareness Month

In January of 2020, all year 4 students at St. Nicholas College were involved in a number of activities to mark the Road Safety Awareness Month. Students were able to use a number of digital devices and technologies, including Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to simulate road safety scenarios, and robotic kits to design and build pelican lights. St. Nicholas College Student Martina Muscat Awarded Excellent MATSEC Scores

Martina Muscat, a former Year 11 student attending St. Nicholas College, Dingli Secondary School, achieved perfect results in her MATSEC Examinations. She obtained passes in the following 11 subjects at SEC Level with Grade 1: Art, English Language, English Literature, Environmental Studies, European Studies, French, Italian, Maltese, Mathematics, Physics and Religious Knowledge and Grade 2 in Social Studies. She is also the recipient of the  Dom Maurus Caruana Prize, worth €47.00. This prize is awarded annually to the candidate who obtains the highest number of marks in the Religious Knowledge examination at SEC Level. Continue reading

Online Course for Educators – Leadership for Change

St. Nicholas College is currently engaged in the Erasmus + project, Leadership for Change (L2C). This project aims to help schools move away from the traditional vertical leadership model, which proclaims the primacy of the head of school, and to move towards shared leadership, fostering a new culture in schools in which teachers, students and potentially parents willingly take responsibility for leadership in the school community. Survey for Educators in All Teaching Grades

The Ministry for Education and Employment and the Malta Union of Teachers have felt the need to identify the immediate challenges that educators in the various teaching and administrative grades have to face in the conduct of their roles. Part of the study, which is being carried out by Professor Mark Borg, includes a series of questionnaire surveys with education administrators, Primary schoolteachers, Secondary schoolteachers, LSEs, and KGEs.

DDLT Workshop on SELFIE & Digital Citizenship Education

The Directorate of Digital Literacy and Transversal Skills invites you to attend an information session /workshop about SELFIE & Digital Citizenship Education on Wednesday, 22nd January, 2020 from 9:00am – 12:30am at the Digital Literacy Centre, Joseph Abela Scolaro Street, Ħamrun. Educators attending this session are encouraged to bring along a copy of their school’s SDP and possibly any SELFIE feedback report the school has in hand. Donation to Foodbank – St.Nicholas College Malta

During the annual St.Nicholas Day Celebrations at our College, students were encouraged to bring with them a tin of food, pasta or rice, to donate to the Malta Foodbank. The College Staff sorted the items and they were delivered to the Atrium, which is one of the official food drop off points on behalf of Malta Foodbank. Our College would like to thank everyone who donated and helped in one way or another, in order to make this possible !
