Hands-on Maths Activity from Home with Dingli Primary School
The students of Yr 2 at St. Nicholas College, Dingli Primary School, participated in a hands-on Mathematics activity in their homes. They practiced multiples of five using their hands, under the supervision of Ms. Kimberelene, who is working from home with them. The children put paint on their hands and made handprints on a piece of cardboard paper; then they counted and wrote the multiples of 5. The children had fun whilst learning although being stuck at home! Thank you to the parents for their on going support to make online learning possible and FUN!
Online Activities for KG 2 Students at SNC Attard Primary School
Kinder 2 educators at St. Nicholas College, Attard Primary School, have been working hard delivering online sessions to their pupils who attended eagerly. They tackled mathematical concepts, discussed stories, did science experiments and participated in various hands on activities together. They even had some time for online free play which they really enjoyed! Everyone got creative to make this virtual experience one to remember 🙂!!

My Mask – I Care Campaign at Ħad-Dingli Secondary School
Students at Saint Nicholas College Secondary School Ħad-Dingli have been investigating the effect of Covid-19 on the environment. Lockdowns and teleworking may be having some positive impacts on our environment. On the other hand, the use of disposal PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) has increased, creating a waste problem. At St Nicholas College Secondary School we believe that each and every one of us is responsible for conserving the environment so each and every one of us needs to act and take an active role to protect it. No use pointing fingers at other institutions – we need to take responsibility for our actions. So we decided to take action and promote the use of safe reusable masks both at school and in our community. We decided to encourage students to trash disposable masks and use reusable masks that follow WHO safety criteria. This is how the campaign My Mask – I Care came about.
What does the campaign involve?
· Students researched the impact of Covid 19 on the environment and presented their findings during school assemblies.
· A facebook challenge was created encouraging students, parents and friends to post photos of their reusable masks. The challenge is available on the school facebook page and was shared on the facebook pages of the local councils of Ħad-Dingli and Ħ’Attard in order to spread the message among our community.
· A campaign video was created and submitted for UNESCO and FEE’s Trash Hack campaign.
· Safe reusable masks following WHO’s safety standards are being sewn and will be given to students. This was possible with the collaboration of the local councils of Ħ’Attard and Ħad-Dingli

Club 3 – 16 Goes Online
With the closure of the educational institutions, the Klabb 3-16 in the centers too had to be suspended. To make up for this interruption in service, the Foundation for Educational Services is offering service users the possibility of following online activities with the Playworkers of their centers, and live HW assistance with warranted teachers.
Parents / legal guardians who are already registered for the service, and would like their children to follow the online activities, are to contact the Centre Coordinator of their respective center and inform him, so that they will be given a link to access the activities. The same applies for the LIVE online HW assistance.
Parents / legal guardians who are not registered with the service, are encouraged to send an email to programmes.fes@gov.mt to be guided on how to apply for the service.
These two modes of communication are being offered in a bid to maintain contact with the students, and also help them with their academic work. All the services are being offered free of charge, including the HW assistance.
Online Hands-On Maths Lesson at Baħrija Primary School
Flexibility and adaptation is the key especially during these times. Watch the students of Year 4, Baħrija Primary School, during a hands-on Maths lesson about capacity. Lesson was held online with Microsoft Teams.

Online Teaching and Learning – Kindergarten 1 Attard Primary School
The Educators and students of KG 1 at Attard Primary School have been busy engaging in online activities during the past week and a half of online teaching. Just because the schools are physically closed, it does not mean that learning cannot take place, too! ĠEMMA FTIT – Financial Literacy Online Interactive Play and Webinar
The Department of Accounting, Business Studies and Retail within the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes in collaboration with ĠEMMA is inviting students in Years 9, 10 and 11 to take part in the online Interactive Play called ĠEMMA FTIT. The objective of the play is that of educating teens on the importance of money management – why one should budget, managing spending, the importance of differentiating between needs and wants, earning income and using it wisely, setting financial goals and saving for them amongst others. Furthermore, the play highlights the importance of decision making which often impact our future both regarding the financial aspect as well as career progression. Every decision taken carries a situation which poses some questions to viewers thus there is an interaction between the play and viewers.
Teachers are being encouraged to make students aware of this play and carry out a lesson about the importance of money management following the delivery of the online play in class. Link for the GEMMA FTIT play:
Interested students are then invited to participate in a webinar with a representative from ĠEMMA and the Department of Accounting, Business Studies and Retail to discuss and share ideas on what they learnt from the play. Students’ parents/guardians are encouraged to join in the webinar and participate in the discussion. The webinar will be scheduled on Friday 23rd April 2021 at 16:00. Online Lessons at Baħrija Primary School
The first week of Year 1 online lessons was a great success! Well done Ms Lewis, all the students and parents! Thank you to the school management for all their immense support! All the students were given a certificate as a reward for their hard work they put in during this week. Looking forward to another week of fun learning! KEEP IT UP!
