Attivita’ Għall-Istrina fil-Kulleġġ San Nikola

Is-Sinjura Miriam Vella ħadet ħafna gost tiltaqa’ mal-istudenti mill-iskejjel ta’ Ħad-Dingli, l-Imġarr u l-Imtarfa li bi kburija kbira bdew jirrakkuntawlha kif qed iwarrbu xi ħaġa fil-ġimgħa biex jitfgħuha fil-karus tal-Istrina #BOV Piggy Bank Campaign. Hija ħeġġet lit-tfal kollha biex huma wkoll jaħsbu fi tfal u familji oħrajn li tant għandhom bżonn l-għajnuna ta’ The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. Ritratti ta’

Mrs Miriam Vella thoroughly enjoyed meeting students from the schools of Dingli, Mġarr and Mtarfa who with great pride told her that they are saving a little money every week to put in the piggy bank of the l-Istrina #BOV Piggy Bank Campaign. She encouraged all children to also think of other children and families who really need the help of The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. Photos by

Annual Competition: Piggy Bank for Istrina

Although we are still going through a time of uncertainty, preparations for this year’s ‘L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank’ campaign are already under way. Therefore, all children are invited to participate in the drawing competition we are launching in order to select the designs for the piggy banks, which this year will once again be made of recycled cardboard. The theme of the competition, which will pave the way for L-Istrina 2021, is ‘Seeking what unites us’

Children can participate, individually or in groups, by sending their original drawings on A4 white paper by 30th April 2021 to the following address: Kompetizzjoni L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank, The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, Il-Palazz tal-President, il-Belt Valletta VLT 1115. While no writing should be done on the respective drawing paper, the participant’s name, postal address, school name, telephone number, and email address should be written on a separate sheet of paper.

Anyone who would like more information or have any questions can send an email to or call on 22053317.

L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign

As in previous years, the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign will once again be taking place in all schools of Malta and Gozo.  Due to the new circumstances Mrs Miriam Vella, First Lady of Malta, will not be visiting the schools in person but will convey her message virtually.  The purpose of this Campaign is to make students aware and also to instill in them the importance of helping others.

This year’s edition will see the traditional plastic piggy bank replaced by a cardboard piggy bank that is easily recycled, and will reduce the negative impact on the environment. The 3 new Piggy Banks, feature drawings by the 3 winners of a competition organised for this purpose and saw the participation of 91 children.

The distribution of the “new piggy” has already started and will remain in schools for a duration of 4 weeks, when they will be recollected during the week of the 7th December.  The video links underneath will help you assemble the Piggy Bank.
