Creative Writing Award Competition for Middle Schools

Malta Live proudly announces its writing competition for the second year running. This is a creative writing award competition in which all students in Middle Schools in Malta are invited to take part. This year, students are asked to write A STORY, ESSAY, POEM OR PLAY with the following theme in mind: THIS IS ME! The rules for the WRITING AWARD COMPETITION are given hereunder.

To be eligible, entries must be

•original works by the entrant,

•in English,

•works of poetry, prose and / or drama,

•related to the theme: THIS IS ME!

The length of the work is open, and therefore, there is no word limit. Students are encouraged to write originally and creatively. Plagiarism, which includes the use of third-party poetry, song lyrics, characters, or another person’s universe, without written permission, will result in disqualification. Students may choose to illustrate their entries but this is not compulsory. The work may be produced by one student or a small group of students may wish to collaborate. Students may submit more than one entry if they wish.

The competition is OPEN. The closing date for all entries is Thursday, 30th March, 2023. Early submission of entries would be appreciated, and it is suggested that entries are submitted as soon as they are ready. Entries can be neatly handwritten or typed. To send entries in hard copy, mail it to: Malta Live Writing Competition 2023, English Language Resource Centre, 89, Archbishop Street, Valletta, VLT 1448, Malta. Please do not register it. Each entry must contain the following information:

•Student(s) name(s),

•Student’s contact details (email address and/or mobile number);

•age of the student(s)

•year in school;

•the school they attend.

PRIZES: Generous prizes will be awarded in the form of book vouchers. Award ceremony: There will be a ceremony in APRIL where prize winners will be announced, awards given and work will be read or performed. This is an award event so winners will be selected by the judges. There may be a number of winners depending on the age of entrants and the quality of the entries. The judges’ decision is final and binding.
