European Money Quiz – Financial Literacy Activity for Secondary Schools

The European Money Quiz is a European competition on financial literacy for 13 to 15-year-old students. The quiz has been held since 2018 under the coordination of the European Banking Federation. The European Money Quiz is also one of the many activities organized every year during the European Money Week. The Malta Bankers’ Association in collaboration with the Department of Accounting and Business Studies within the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes, are coordinating the National Selection in preparation for the European Money Quiz – Grand Final. This is the second time that a local
quiz is being organized to select the national winners for participation in the European Grand Final.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the Final of the European Money Quiz will be held as an online competition on Tuesday 10th May 2022, using the free game-based learning platform Kahoot!

European Money Quiz 2022 – National Selection

Target Audience:
13 to 15-year-old students in State and Non-State Schools.
16-year-old students are also allowed to participate, should they be born no later than 10th November 2005.

Description of Activity:
This national selection is the first step towards the European Money Quiz. This will be performed through the Kahoot! platform on Tuesday 29th March 2022 at noon. To assist the participants, a trial run of the quiz will be held on the same day at 10am. Participants shall only access the Kahoot! Platform from schools. All the participants will be taking the quiz simultaneously. The first two participants with the highest number of correct answers to the questions in the shortest amount of time, as identified via the Kahoot! platform, will be declared the national winners. These will then represent Malta in the European Money Quiz on Tuesday 10th May 2022, also through Kahoot!

The local competitive process shall be coordinated by a teacher who will assist participants to live stream the event via Teams and ensure fair play. Each participating student requires two electronic devices: a device to live stream the event via Teams (example via a classroom interactive white board) and another device (example phone/tablet) to be used to take the Kahoot! quiz. A Teams invite will be sent to registered participants closer to the date. Practice Questions can be found in this link: https://www.ebf.eu/europeanmoneyquiz/practice/
