The National Literacy Agency would like to inform educators and parents that the Maltese reading scheme ‘Qari għal Qalbi’, which was launched in November 2020, offers a digital l ibrary of books in Maltese. Primary school pupils and educators may access 260 digital books in Maltese from the website https://octavo.app/.
The books were levelled by the National Literacy Agency, based on the text characteristics. The reading levels cater for diverse student reading abilities. Children are offered a unique reading experience and encouraged to read more.
The collection is made up of 11 reading levels and each level is defined by a different colour. The easiest level is Level 1A, the pink level, and the most difficult level is Level 11, marked as lime. This library encourages children to view reading as an enjoyable experience. The fonts were selected to cater for children who have reading difficulties. Children have the option to select their preferred fonts. Font size and line spacing may also be changed. Students also have the option of listening to audio recordings of the books while following the text.
