Malta Junior Science Olympiad 2021

Heads of School are kindly informed that the Science Centre (Pembroke) within the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes (DLAP) is organising the 8th edition of the Malta Junior Science Olympiad (MJSO). The MJSO will be held at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School, Naxxar, on Saturday 20th November 2021.

Students are expected to be on the premises on time, as per programme which can be accessed HERE. Each participating school can nominate and register one team of three Year 11 students. Each student will be allocated one subject paper (Biology or Chemistry or Physics). Thus schools are encouraged to select one high ability student for each of the three subjects.

Each student will work on one applied theory paper in Biology, Chemistry or Physics simultaneously. The content of the three papers is related to the Year 9 and Year 10 Biology, Chemistry and Physics DLAP school syllabi. Each subject paper will comprise four sections as shown below:

The winning teams will be announced on the Science Centre Facebook Page on Wednesday 1st December at10.00 a.m. Each student in the first three winning teams will be awarded a smartwatch. The school of the winning team will receive the MJSO 2021 trophy by HSBC Malta Foundation. A certificate of participation will be presented to all MJSO participant
