The Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes is launching HSBC STEM Challenge initiative for primary students in Year 3 to Year 6. The aim of the initiative is to engage young students and their caregivers in doing Science at home while nurturing and developing 21st Century life skills. Interested participants are kindly requested to investigate one of the following themes:

The human body
Theme 2:
Simple machines
Theme 3:
Nature
The HSBC STEM Challenge final product, produced in video format, will be judged based on the following adjudication criteria:
- Content and process of the STEM Challenge should reflect significant elements of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics;
- The STEM Challenge should involve investigative skills such as developing the research question, formulating the prediction, conducting the investigation, drawing the results and reaching a conclusion;
- The ability to communicate the research findings effectively.
Parents/guardians are kindly requested to upload the video on the HSBC STEM Challenge Facebook page by Friday 8th May 2020. The name of the student, year group, school and theme chosen should be listed in the Facebook post.
The Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes will be awarding prizes to the first three STEM Challenge final products, based on the adjudication criteria above. Awards are sponsored by the HSBC Malta Foundation as follows:
